The goal myth

I here gone back to the ‘Goal Myth’ chapter in ‘The Spirituality of Success’, as on my first read through I grasped that Vinny was saying that goals could result in negative thinking (due to your mind constantly having to focus on your lack off not having what you want), but I did not get how to express myself in terms of an objective.  I think I get it now though.

My previous stated goal of reaching financial independence by my 35th birthday is now no longer in play.  Aiming for a specific dollar amount to be made while trading is also out.

In its place my new objective is to trade profitably and consistently, following my trading plan.  My objective has to allow for flexibility, as you don’t always end up exactly where you had planned.

Focusing on a goal prevents you from being open and flexible to alternate opportunities that come along.

Two nice quotes from this chapter:

For an idea that does not at first seem insane there is no hope.
- Albert Einstein

You can get everything you want in life if you can help enough other people get what they want.
- Zig Ziglar

I need to start thinking of ways that I can help other people achieve their objectives; potentially help them become better trades.
