Jobs jamboree

8 July, 2006 (13:29) | Books, Journal | By: Colin McGinley

A pretty quiet first week of July, primarily because Independence Day was on Tuesday and most people would have taken the Monday off to.

I waited until Wednesday before entering a birthday trade for one lot at 1.2772.  I almost reached my profit target but price met resistance at the 1.28 level.

I entered a limit buy order for another birthday entry at the 1.2722 level, but it never got filled (missed by 2 pips).  It would have been a nice play.

Just before the jobs jamboree on Friday morning I upped my open position with another half lot at the 1.278 level as there was good potential for more euro strength, which duely made an appearance.

Lots of data in the coming week, so it should be a good one.

I finished reading Mark Douglas’ ‘The Disciplined Trader’ over the long weekend at the start of the month.

I have moved on to reading Peter Bernstein’s ‘Against the Gods’; along with re-reading Richard McCall’s ‘The Way of the Warrior-Trader’, which I have been meaning to revisit for quite a while now.

As part of my progress to continually improve myself and my trading ability, I need to be able to identity those areas that need improvement, along with those areas of my current perception and psychology that are limiting or blocking information about the market that I could potentially use.  I need to be continually on the lookout for these blind spots, so that I can open myself up to the full amount of informative and flow that the market is making available to me.
