There is a rather enlightening article on CNNMoney.com that reports on new research into whether success is all about natural ability, or if you practice enough can you be great.

Seems like if you put your head down and focus on making yourself better for a long enough time you too can achieve greatness in your choose speciality.

Discipline, motivation and constant evalution of your performance seem to be cited as three crucial attributes to have on the road to success. The research cited mainly focuses on sports and music (as these fields are easier to track and quantify), while the article then tries to tie the research into general business and management practices. I don’t think there is anything preventing a similar carry-over to the arena of trading. There is no easy road to riches. You need to have the drive to carry yourself through the long haul of attaining your goals.
