Sagacious Laziness

I finally managed to catch an episode last night of Wall Street Warriors, a documentary series that follows the lives of various people on Wall Street. I’ve tried to catch it in the past, but it has always been on at weird times.

I watched episode five, and a trader gave what I thought was a great desciption of trading. He described it as sagacious laziness. If you’re like me when I heard him say that, you’re now thinking: ‘That sounds kind of cool, but what does sagacious mean?’.

The dictionary.com website defines it as:

sagacious \suh-GAY-shus\, adjective:
Of keen penetration and judgment; discerning and judicious; knowing; shrewd; wise.

Sagacious derives from Latin sagax, “keen; shrewd; clever.”

I’m beginning to appreciate picking up new words and expanding my vocabulary. It’s even better when I can remember the new word and use it at some point. I think the Word to the Wise section in the daily Early To Rise newsletter I get has something to do with this.

There are a couple of updates from Tom Yeomans and Rob Booker that I feel are worth pointing out.

Tom has updated his main e-book, which he has now entitled ‘Trading the noise’. This version of the e-book contains all the necessary information to follow Tom’s current strategy on news trading. I have already given my impressions on his current news trading strategy after attending his seminar last month. If you have already bought a previous version of Tom’s e-book, or attending one of his classes or seminars, you should be able to download the latest version of the e-book from his members site.

Rob Booker has a new book out, which is called ‘Adventures of a Currency Trader: A Fable about Trading, Courage, and Doing the Right Thing’. I have no idea as to the quality of the book itself, but Rob is offering a very unique promotion. If you buy 62 copies of the book then Rob will come to you and give you one of his personal seminars. No matter where you live, he’ll come and teach you one-on-one. I’ve no idea why you have to buy 62 copies, but it’s certainly an eye catching promotion and I’m sure that Rob will do well out of it, even if he does end up travelling the world!

You can find out more about the book and the special promotion on Rob Booker’s site.
