There’s an interesting article on Victor Niederhoffer in The New Yorker. Niederhoffer is one of those maverick traders who has gained as much infamy for his failures as for his successes.

Judging by how well Victor Niederhoffer fared during this summer’s credit crunch (which was not all that well), it seems like he might have learned some valuable lessons during the Thai stock market crash of 1997 but that didn’t prepare him enough for future extreme conditions.

The markets can humble the best of us.
